First Blood.  1st May 1982, 1910Z
Flight Lieutenants Paul Barton and Steve Thomas, RAF pilots serving with 801 Naval Air Squadron, merge with a pair of Argentinian Mirages over the Falklands. Barton (in the far Sea Harrier) 'hooked' in behind one of the Mirages, destroying it with an AIM9L. Thomas fired against the second Mirage as it dived away into cloud but didn't see the result of his shot.
